The photographic works of local resident Melvyn Gendron are now on exhibit in the center aisle display cases at the Woonsocket Harris Public Library, 303 Clinton Street. Titled "Seasons of Light", the series of photographs captures the dramatic contrast of light and shadow against a variety of objects. The exhibit is available for viewing now through October 31, 2022 during the library's regular business hours. The library is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am-9pm, Tuesdays and Fridays from 9am-5pm, and Saturdays in September from 1pm-5pm.  

The Israel-Hamas war is raging on in the Gaza Strip. Israeli forces are moving forward with their assault on the southern part of the region. This comes as the U.S. has warned Israel it must "put a premium on civilian protection" while it fights Hamas.        A massive storm is set to impact the eastern half of the U.S. this weekend. Severe thunderstorms, heavy rain, strong winds and even snow may affect millions. It'll start to take shape today and really gain strength on Saturday as adverse weather will stretch for more than 12-hundred miles from the Gulf Coast all the way up to the Canadian border.        Hunter Biden is facing nine criminal charges in a federal tax case. Prosecutors accuse the president's son of living an extravagant lifestyle while failing to pay at least one-point-four million dollars in federal taxes between 2016 and 2019. The indictment claims he spent his money on drugs, escorts, luxury properties and exotic cars.        The House is investigating three top universities after the institutions' leaders failed to explicitly say calling for the genocide of Jews violates their code of conduct. The House Committee on Education and the Workforce announced it opened an investigation into Harvard, MIT and the University of Pennsylvania today for what it called "rampant antisemitism" on their campuses by students and faculty. The move follows a heated line of questioning during a congressional hearing earlier this week, in which the university presidents refused to say whether calls for genocide violate campus rules on harassment.        The International Olympic Committee will allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to complete in next year's Olympics in Paris. Athletes who qualify for their sport will participate as neutrals without flags. Athletes from Russia and Belarus have faced bans from international competitions after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.        The Patriots kicked off Week 14 with a 21-18 upset win over the Steelers on Thursday Night Football in Pittsburgh. Bailey Zappe passed for 240 yards, three touchdowns and an interception to help New England snap a five-game losing streak. In other Week 14 action, the Bills are trying to keep their playoff hopes alive as they visit the Chiefs in Kansas City.
