Town of North Smithfield

September 9, 2021

The memorial above, which stands in the park just across the road from Cumberland Farms, was donated by Roland Verrier in September 2002, providing a permanent reminder of the day North Smithfield lost one of its own in events that would come to shape the nation’s history.

Please join the Town of North Smithfield in remembrance of Amy Jarret, a flight attendant and North Smithfield resident, who tragically lost her life on September 11, 2001.

On September 13, at 6:00 P.M. there will be a brief speaking program and a moment of silence. North Smithfield Fire Chief David Chartier will ring the fire bell, and anyone who hopes to remember someone lost in the tragedy will be invited to say their name.

The seats are spectacular, Orchestra Center, Golden Circle at a value of over $400.

But that’s not all! You will also be entered to win two other prizes, the first being a chance to play the “whip” in a performance of “Sleigh Ride” at the winter holiday concert, or you can win a visit from the North Smithfield HS Christmas carolers. If you are not a resident of North Smithfield, you can “gift” your caroling prize to a resident!

Johnson explained his plan after a closed-door GOP conference meeting Monday after months of delay. Each bill would be voted on separately before the end of the week.       Three bills were brought to the House of Representatives Monday aiming to impose penalties on Iran and its proxies in the Middle East after its massive missile and drone attack against Israel over the weekend.       "Rust" armorer Hannah Gutierrez is being sentenced to 18 months in prison for the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. A New Mexico jury found Gutierrez guilty for negligence in loading the live ammo into Alec Baldwin's gun on set, which killed Hutchins.        The University of Southern California will not be having a valedictorian speech this year after security concerns related to a speaker's comments online. The University maintains that they are not canceling the speech due to her comments but rather because of the unprecedented risks of harassment and violence that could break out.        The Indiana Fever have selected Caitlin Clark with the number one pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. In her senior at Iowa season, Clark became the all-time NCAA Division One men's and women's scoring leader.
